Performa Sports
Performa Sports needed to replace fifteen years of iPad-only analysis software with a modern platform that works for coaches, analysts and players on any device, without losing the workflows or data their customers depend on.
The challenge
Performa Sports had been the go-to analysis tool across Gaelic games since 2011, but the product was showing its age. Built solely for iPad, it offered no way to work from a laptop or the web. If the app crashed mid-match, an analyst could lose an entire game's worth of tagging. Players had no access to their own performance data, and the platform couldn't support the kind of collaborative, multi-device workflows that clubs now take for granted.
The brief was clear but not simple: rebuild everything from scratch, open the product up to every device and every role in a club, and do it without breaking the habits of existing customers. Performa's archive holds over eight million validated match events, each one linked to a video clip. None of that could be left behind.
The solution
We designed and built one connected platform from the ground up. Coaches and analysts get a single app that runs on iPad, phone, web and Mac. Players get their own dedicated app. Performa's team has a console to manage the lot. Live analysis supports multiple analysts tagging the same match simultaneously, each seeing the other's work as it happens. After the final whistle, video lines up with every tagged moment so a coach can build playlists, annotate footage and share clips with players in minutes rather than hours.
Sport-specific templates cover Gaelic football, hurling and soccer, and an automatic tagging engine handles the repetitive grunt work so analysts can focus on what matters. Around the core analysis we built the day-to-day tools a club actually needs: squads and lineups, schedules and sessions, player ratings and reports, messaging, injuries and attendance. The whole platform works offline. A match tagged in a stadium with no mobile signal is safe and syncs when connectivity returns.
We carried across Performa's existing video import pipeline and made sure exports open in the other analysis tools clubs already use. No customer had to start from scratch, and no data was lost. From the first line of code to a working platform took a year, replacing a product with fifteen years of history.
