We partnered with Elecsys Technologies from a founder's concept to build the platform that makes high-voltage safety management the easy way for wind-farm operators.
The challenge
Operating and maintaining a wind farm's electrical network is one of the most expensive and safety-critical jobs in energy. Only people holding the right authorisation for a specific network may plan, approve or carry out high-voltage switching. Every step must be signed, recorded and available for regulators. Get it wrong and people can die, we wish we were exaggerating.
The industry was running on paper, spreadsheets and disconnected systems with heavily over serviced assets. On offshore sites with little or no connectivity, that meant field teams carrying folders of safety documents and hoping nothing fell through the gaps. Elecsys Technologies saw the problem clearly and came to us with a vision: one platform that would manage safety, authorisation and efficient maintenance from one industry serving platform.
The solution
We've worked with Elecsys since 2023, designing and building the platform from first concept through launch to the product it is today. It gives operators a single system for the entire safety process: switching schedules, outage programmes, safety documents and approved procedures, each moving through a controlled approval and sign-off flow that cannot be skipped. A live control centre provides a logbook and event feed. A register tracks who is authorised and to what degree on each network, including renewals and competency assessments. A map layer shows every network asset alongside live weather, a first for the industry and a significant digital visualisation tool with commercial impact for the project.
Connectivity was a significant consideration to ensure data syncing was reliable in remote scenarios. Field teams work on offshore platforms where signal simply doesn't exist. By developing offline capability the mobile app has full functionality offline and can pass safety documents and signatures etc directly between two devices with no signal at all, syncing everything when a connection returns. For digital auditing and authorisation the engagement was extended from the platform to a digital wallet, allowing each person to carry their authorisations and certificates on their device.
Given that every action is recorded and traceable, the evidence regulators require is already there without anyone having to search and compile it.
We built Elecsys as a multi-operator product, with each customer in their own secure space. In 2026 we handed the codebase to the client's in-house team and continue to develop it alongside them. It's now Elecsys's core product launched and live in this multi-billion dollar market.
